9-2 Research Paper Due dates

Research Paper Completion!


For the last few weeks, we have been working very hard on our research papers.  There are several deadlines coming up that we talked about in class that I will also post here for future reference.

**If you have kept on track during these last few weeks, then many of you are ready to begin typing.  Please do so if you are ready.**

Outline- LAST DAY FOR POINTS IS: Thursday, December 1.

Hand written rough draft DUE- Friday, December 2. There will be limited class time to work on  your rough draft on this day.

MLA Citation lesson- Friday, December 2.

If you are not finished with your rough draft by the end of class on Friday, then you have homework for the weekend.  All students must come to class on Monday, December 5th with a completed rough draft (written, not typed).  

Paper Formatting- Monday, December 5.

We are typing our rough draft- Monday, December 5.  If you do not finish typing your paper Monday, then you have homework Monday night..  You must have a way to save your paper without relying on the 113 lab share drive.  BRING A USB DRIVE!

Tuesday, December 6- peer editing and revision

Wednesday, December 7- FINAL PAPER DUE FOR FULL POINTS.
LAST DAY FOR COMPUTER LAB

We will begin a novel unit on Thursday, December 8, therefore, your paper must be completed the day before.  If you are not finished, then you must complete  your paper on your own time and email it to me for a reduction in points.

English 9-2 November 7-18, 2016

2nd Trimester is here!  Welcome new students and thanks for hanging around current students!

We begin research skills and writing this grading period, so please make sure you are attending class as much as possible.  Because lab time is limited, you will be responsible for doing research on your own time if you miss research and writing days in the lab.  Remember, you need to find sources for your paper and paraphrase, summarize, or quote appropriately.  Plagiarism is BAD!



Our schedule for the next few weeks is as follows:

Monday, Nov. 7: MUG shots, syllabus overview, vocabulary, and introduction to the research project.

Tuesday,  Nov. 8: MUG shots, research questions, lab time for internet research into topic. 2 sources due.

Wednesday, Nov. 9: MUG, vocabulary, Research questions and source cards.  Research topic DUE.

Thursday, Nov. 10: Vocab boxes DUE, online database training with Mr. Lake

Friday, Nov. 11: NO SCHOOL- Veteran's Day

Monday, Nov. 14: MUG, vocabulary, lab research day

Tuesday, Nov. 15: MUG, source cards DUE, paraphrasing and MLA citation activity

Wednesday, Nov. 16: MUG, vocabulary, Begin research outlines, lab time if needed

Thursday, Nov. 17: Journal, continue outlines

Friday, Nov. 18: SSR, Vocab quiz, vocab boxes DUE, outline DUE

November 21-25 is Thanksgiving break.  If you are behind on research sources or your outline, please use this time off to complete this work.  Outlines turned in Monday, Nov. 28 will receive half credit.
